America, with its unparalleled geopolitical, economic, and cultural influence, bears the glorious responsibility of protecting these freedoms not only for ourselves but as the leader of the free world.

Today, freedom is under siege. Over the past century, economic freedom has steadily eroded. Over-regulation and bureaucratic inflexibility have stifled innovation and fueled populist anger. Even more alarming is the assault on our political freedom, our most precious liberty. As Milton Friedman warned, economic freedom is necessary for political freedom, but not sufficient—we must fiercely defend both.

Illiberal movements worldwide are on the march, giving rise to the evil triplets of nativism, protectionism, and isolationism—movements that stand against our nation's founding principles and must be denounced. The fight to preserve the light of freedom through reason, truth, and the protection of individual rights is eternal. We are the guardians of this pursuit, and we must never surrender it.
